A brill open letter from departing coach Slot. A classy letter from a classy guy. We have a great record of recruiting good people and I believe Andoni Iraola will prove to be one too. A very different type of coach whose team resembles more a heavy metal style of football ala Klopp. Fun times are near I’m sure. Thanks Slot …welcome to LFC Don Iraola 🙌🏽🔴 #LFC

PLAY ON🗣️ Andoni Iraola on the Anfield atmosphere. “I’ve been the other side – I still remember the goal Chiesa scored at the end of the first game of the season! [in Liverpool's win over Bournemouth]. “We were there at 2-2 thinking that probably we could take something. He scored and the place erupted. It was crazy, no? I want now to feel this from the other side. “At the beginning when you arrive at any club, I think you need to kind of prove a little bit yourself. You need to earn the right also to belong. I want to do this as quickly as possible so I can also celebrate with them and I can be part properly of those celebrations. “For me, football is about emotions. About passion. “I’m quite cool-headed probably, during my life quite rational, I would say. But it’s true that when the game starts, when you have to celebrate a goal, something is inside, no? “I think this inner energy, you need it as a player, you need it as a supporter, you need it as a coach. And there's no better place than Anfield.”

STANDS🗣️ Andoni Iraola on why he asked for a two-year contract. "Coaching contracts don't matter a lot. I don't want to be in a place because I have a contract... "I signed for two years, but it's basically year-to-year when you are a coach. "I hope I'm going to stay here two years, or a lot more years, because it will mean I have done a very good job. But I feel we have to earn it."

STANDS🗣️ Andoni Iraola on summer plans. "Obviously we've signed two players already [Jeremy Jacquet and Victor Muñoz] but we need more players. We know this. The club is working on this. "Selfishly, as a coach, you want the players here on day one, so they are ready to train for pre-season. But we understand football doesn't work like this and I know that the club is working hard to get those signings. I am also trying to help."
