🚨Update: As revealed on the 13th June Cody Gakpo informed his representatives at the start of the summer that he would be open to leaving Liverpool should the right opportunity arise. Liverpool are understood to Gakpo at over £70m, with Tottenham prepared to approach that figure. Spurs’ interest has been well known to Liverpool the last few months with Roberto De Zerbi pushing hard. Should Gakpo depart, Liverpool are expected to try move for two attacking reinforcements before the transfer window closes, Barcola one of them. Spurs are showing an interest in Cody Gakpo, as previously reported. #LFC prefer to keep and it would take a significant offer to change that. Liverpool will point to the current inflated market if Spurs make a formal approach, and use several done deals to inform their valuation. It would take a significant offer, and Liverpool adding a replacement, for a sale to be entertained.🔴

It is also worth noting again that in recent weeks, while Arne Slot was still Liverpool head coach, Bayern Munich once again approached both Gakpo’s representatives and the player himself to explore whether he would be prepared to join the Bundesliga champions, but the Dutch international rejected those advances as he remained under the delusion that Slot would continue at Anfield and that his situation at Liverpool would remain largely unchanged, with significant game time continuing to be available to him. Bayern have since been informed that Gakpo intends to hold talks with newly appointed Liverpool head coach Andoni Iraola following the World Cup, at which point he will assess Liverpool’s plans regarding the arrival of top attacking targets, which those close to the situation remain confident the club will successfully secure, after which he is expected to reassess his own future, although it remains to be seen whether that reassessment will arrive too late and Bayern Munich will already have moved on by that stage. #AD (18+)

Cody Gakpo hasn’t told Liverpool directly he wants to leave. However, there has been recent interest in Gakpo from Italy, and Bayern from last summer. Liverpool not actively looking to sell and have noted the fee on Anthony Gordon’s £70m Barcelona move, which would inform their valuation. Gakpo is well contracted until 2030. Liverpool also have no plans to keep Mo Salah despite comments from Egyptian goalkeeper Ahmed El-Shenawy that “things could change”.🔴
